Frequently asked questions
Travel insurance is typically recommended to be purchased before departure, ideally right after purchasing your airline ticket or 90 days before departure. The coverage takes effect from the moment of purchase, say Section 12 – Cancellation of Journey for any Reason or Change of Travel Date for any Reason⁵, if trip is unfortunately affected by adverse weather, you will be compensated for flight delays or cancellations caused by bad weather. For other benefits, cover shall take effect when the insured trip starts.

As long as you purchased the MyTravel Insurance – Superior Plan before or within 7 days from the date you make your initial payment or deposit for your trip, you will be eligible for a claim in case you need to change the travel date or cancel the trip for any reason* prior to the original departure time. Both the applicable public transportation and accommodation expenses can be claimed, subject to 50% of the Insured Person’s cancellation costs or the maximum benefits stated in the Schedule of Benefits, whichever is lower.
*Subject to the policy terms, conditions, and exclusions as shown in the policy provisions. Please note that if the claims fall into the exclusion which is not exempted under this benefit, such as fear of flying and suicide etc., no benefits will be payable. Please refer to the general exclusion 1.1-1.17 as stated in the policy provision for details.
Besides the airfare and accommodation fees, MyTravel also covers missed activities like the overseas tickets etc., subject to the maximum benefits stated in the Schedule of Benefits.
